Kate Moss - Playboy - edit Melisa
i admit i’ve been bad … and i need Kate to … “reprimand" me … :=D
cuz like - i’m blowing out my ears …. lol
i needed a break - wow - alot of it sounds wack on real speakers - especially the mixpad stuff - out of phase - phase drops outs - mixpad doesn’t have a function to reverse phase
The Cubase stuff holds up - even though mixed totally on headphones
the scm player too - you really hear the difference in the flow of music from people who put stuff out on their own (i won’t mention any names) - their mixes are wack - and stuff backed by a label - where the mix was professionally done by a mix engineer - it sounds solid on small speakers - larger speakers - headphones - anything

yeah - i did almost all the music on my utoob page in less than 30 days - not quite - i cheated & used mixpad - but u know - the point - in order to get better seo ranking - u gotta have more than pics on a web pg - u gotta write sumthin - so that’s really what this is about
so - anyway - where wuz i ? oh yeah - i’m looking at the cubase console & using a 30 day free trial - i’m just phukkin around cause - i rather be at the beach or on a boat - than playing around with Cubase
protools - cubase - even mixpad - its all the same - if you can squeeze some sound outta mixpad - its all about the extras - the plugins & the extra functiionality - but - cubase is a great product
i just wanted to see what - if - any reaction i’d get - with no artist - no promo - no video - no song structure - i just turned the phukkin thing on & ”went for it” - cubase had great ‘midi’ capability - meaning - you could link up 50 synths & texture each one - and save it & if you wanna spend alot of time - potentially - you could uncover incredible sounds - i had 30 days & no desire to spend the time it took - but it was a unique feeling - not being under the pressure of a $250 an hour studio with $50 per hour for every reverb unit & other outboard gear - all the equip rentals
i felt like i was in a studio - it was - the room ur in is the studio - its just that the console is ‘virtual’ plus whatever monitor system ur using… i did everything on headphones - which every great mix engineer tells you not to do - but - i just didn’t give a phuk
i know how to mangle sound - from watching the absolute best people in the bizness do it - 8 instances of different delays & gating each channel - after about 28 channels the ‘puter starts glitching & having a ‘baby’
then u brickwall max evrything out - but - i’m basically ‘playing’ with sound & samples - then comparing it with ‘real’ recordings with real mixes - i’m not a mix engineer or even an engineer - so - i know i did incredibly well for just what boils down to be ‘ruff’ mixes - made for a real mix engineer to perfect
i notice alot of people don’t even know the difference - and maybe mostly it seems to not matter as much as it used to - like Drake - i luv his music but it all sounds like ruff mixes - like they don’t even realize - or give a shit - and it certainly has had no negative impact in his case - he’s the new iteration of elvis - bless his soul
i think - purely sound wise - the only group that really care about it from an audiophile pov are the death metal types - they’re pretty heavy imprinted on the compression aspect - they compress the shit out of everything
d’essing - wow that was a problem with alot of my samples - i didn’t have the plugin for that… lol - no problem - i just expanded the sample like - zoomed all the way - and cut that sucker - edited out the “ssssss”
on mixpad i had used no instruments at all - and i have some vry cool vintage gear - an old ensoniq sample keyboard - it has alot of punch to it - but - on mixpad i just triggered samples with the mixpad internal metronome - which mixpad just recently phukked up so it no longer works
ok - so i’m guessing this is adequate ‘seo’ verbage … and now i can return to the simplicity of reblogging photos… lol
